We Are Mobilise is excited to announce the launch of our fifth direct giving program, Mobilise Mobility.
This program is made possible through our new partnership with Queensland’s Micah Projects, an organisation committed to helping people access foundational human rights, such as housing, healthcare, safety, justice, and meaningful connection.
Breaking Barriers to Employment, Health, and Housing
Having reliable transportation is key to preventing homelessness. Many people facing homelessness struggle to access essential services like healthcare, housing, and employment opportunities because they lack transportation. Mobilise Mobility aims to solve this problem by providing various transport options to Micah Projects’ participants, helping them lead better lives.
Mobilise Mobility will offer access to transportation services, including:
• Car purchases
• Car registration and repair
• Public transport passes
• Ride-share vouchers
• Bicycles and related equipment
• Driver training and licencing support
What We Found
Many existing programs don’t fully cover all aspects of transportation or include people over 25 and non-Australian citizens. COVID-19 disrupted public transit programs for those facing homelessness in Victoria, and the end of popular driving programs has left many across the country without support.
Programs that help people get driver’s licenses or own cars have shown positive results, and those that encourage social connections through mentorship are especially valuable. By addressing these gaps, we can make transportation solutions more effective and inclusive for those at risk of homelessness.
We Are Mobilise’s Founder and CEO, Noah Yang, expressed his enthusiasm for this new program. “We’re excited to collaborate with Micah Projects, an organisation that shares our dedication to making a tangible difference in lives of those facing homelessness. By addressing the transportation barriers faced by many, we can open doors to opportunities that were previously out of reach,” said Yang.
Micah Project CEO, Karyn Walsh, echoed those sentiments.
“Micah are collaborating with Mobilise’s direct giving programs to open up more valuable resources for people experiencing homelessness.
“Those facing homelessness will be able to access more opportunities to mitigate cost of living pressures and prevent the growing rates of homelessness.” Walsh said.
Driving Change Across Queensland
This partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing the root causes of homelessness. By working together, We Are Mobilise and Micah Projects are empowering individuals to overcome transportation barriers, thereby improving their chances of securing a stable future.
Mobilise Mobility is more than just a program; it’s a pathway to hope, opportunity, and lasting change for the people of Queensland.
