Turo, the world’s largest car sharing marketplace, teamed up with Nedd Brockmann (and his beloved choccy milk van Rhonda) to raise over $16,000 for We Are Mobilise.
On December 8th last year, Brockmann teamed up with Turo at the North Bondi Surf Club to raise funds for Mobilise; with every kilometre volunteers ran on the treadmill alongside Brockmann, delivering $50 in donations from Turo.
An amazing 273 km’s were run, contributing to the total of over $13,650 as the beachgoers braved 42-degree heat in Sydney before extending the promotion throughout the New Year period to raise the total to over $16,000.
Turo, which can be found across the US, UK, Canada, France, and Australia, is encouraging Aussies to book from 31 Jan – 1 Feb on Turo, to book Ronda, and you may just be lucky enough for Nedd to turn up with his beloved van.
Brockmann, the 2024 NSW Young Australian of the Year Nominee, marathon runner and former electrician, has become one of Turo’s newest hosts and will be handing over his keys directly to the first guest who finds Ronda on Turo for only $100AUD per day.
Rhonda is the name of Nedd Brockmann’s beloved chocolate milk van – it was this van in which Nedd retraced his Perth to Sydney run route. Those who are interested in booking Ronda (and meeting Nedd) will need to do the following:
- Download the Turo app
- Search for the 2013 Volkswagen Caddy in Sydney between 31 Jan and 1 Feb
- Guests can further refine their search by selecting ‘Volkswagen’ under the ‘vehicle make’ filter
Brockmann will hand-deliver Ronda to the guests and take them for a run and a drive around Sydney, complete with a few of Nedd’s famous choccy milks.
“I’ve been blown away by the support and how much people loved my choccy milk van, Ronda, and I’m stoked to list her exclusively on Turo for guests to book,” said Brockmann.
“Driving across the country was a way to say thanks to everyone who supported me along the run and I can’t wait to give people a chance to drive Ronda themselves while raising more money for Aussies experiencing homelessness.”
We Are Mobilise CEO, Noah Yang, said this was another amazing effort from Brockmann and his family of commercial partners.
“If there was ever going to be anyone willing to face 42 degrees at Bondi it was going to be Nedd, and we are so thrilled that Turo came on board to support him in this challenge,” said Yang.
“The $16,000 figure raised will allow us to send these funds on directly to those who need it via our Mobilise Matched and Mobilise Kickstarter direct giving programs.”
